Ticking the box - or not
Today I am kicking myself because I have had to un-publish one of the novels, Fairlyden at War, which I had uploaded to Smashwords. The reason? I forgot to tick a box on Amazon KDP cancelling the book's availability in the Amazon KDP library. I had made it available for 90 days, ending mid August, but I failed to tick a box so it is now available in the Kindle library for another 90 days until November. This means I cannot upload it to Smashwords, or anywhere else until then.
Anyway here is some white heather from my garden in the hope it brings me luck with lots of sales for the other three books in the Fairlyden series.
We have had a dreadfully wet summer in S.W. Scotland but my son finished combining the rest of the harvest yesterday. I don't know whether we are preparing for an early winter or not but the winter flowering Viburnum is already covered in pink blossoms. Like me the seasons seem to be a bit topsy turvy.
What a shame about Smashwords, Gwen, but if it's any comfort, I only buy from Amazon! Lovely photo of the lucky heather - hope it brings you much good fortune.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rosemary.Since reading an email on Brtish Fiction this morning it has made me think I might take the opportunity to promote the book with a free download before November. I shall let you know if and when.

ReplyDeleteThank you Joan. I don't suppose it will make much difference but they do warn you on Smashwords that it can have a detrimental effect to the sales of that book if you un-publish. In this case it had not been up very long and had not had many views so hopefully it will be OK when I put it back up in November.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what a lot of boxes we do get to tick these days though - even for the tax man and student exams apparently.
Gwen,you have my sympathy! Trying to keep track of all the things you are supposed to do now as a writer means sometimes the actual writing goes to the bottom of the pile.
ReplyDeleteYes, Myra this is the frustrating thing having to neglect the writing to keep up with marketing and all "the stuff". It is getting beyond me!
